If you are a busy mom you should not feel guilty for wanting to lose weight. This is because this weight loss can benefit your entire family.
Over the last decade or so obesity levels have increased around the world, with many health organisations like the Mayo clinic spending a lot of their time and resources trying to get the general public to understand the risks they are putting themselves by being overweight or obese.
Giving birth is a difficult time for moms, as you will often find it difficult to find the time to work out or eat healthily when every second is spent looking after your newborn.
It is little wonder that many new moms struggle to lose the baby weight.
Now this article is not about how you can lose weight but rather how your weight will not only affect you, but also your family.
Firstly you should not feel selfish for wanting to lose your baby weight, and your partner and children should support your choice as it does impact on them.
Overweight and Depressed?
Nearly 67% of Americans are overweight or obese but most think that they are only a few pounds heavier than they should be.
Did you know that being overweight or obese has been linked with causing depression?
You have probably got enough stress going on trying to deal with your babies demands, so any stress caused by your weight will only add to your depression.
By losing this baby weight your mood will improve and your family will feel the benefits.
Avoid Chronic Diseases
Another issue that may arise by you being overweight or obese is the risk of suffering from serious chronic diseases.
Even when you are young your weight will affect your health. If you are overweight then you will become fatigued easier, so you will not be able to spend as much quality time with your family.
As you age chances are unless you start losing weight you will be more at risk of suffering from high blood pressure, type II diabetes as well as heart disease, which is the biggest killer of women.
By getting and staying slim you can stay active and make sure you can enjoy years of good health with your loved ones.
Be a Good Influence
Often if a mom is overweight her children are overweight too. It is important that you are a good influence on your children and give them good habits.
Your relationship with your partner is also important and you should both make the effort to stay fit and healthy.
It may take a little bit of time and effort but losing the weight is worth it. Start eating healthily and do a little bit of exercise and your family will see and feel the benefits.
Remember not to feel guilty for wanting to look after yourself, your family will understand, and in the end seeing you happy and active for many years will be a great benefit for them.
